Description: | Founded in 1966 by poet and translator Paul Blackburn, the Poetry Project, located in the landmark Saint Mark's Church in-the-Bowery in New York City's East Village, has for three decades been this country's premier venue for new and experimental poetry. Now in its 34th season, the Poetry Project continues to provide resources to and act as a forum for poets, writers, artists, and performers whose work is innovative and experimental. The Poetry Project offers: A Wednesday Night Reading Series for established and emerging writers. A Monday Night Reading Series for emerging writers and performance artists. A Friday Late-Night Events Series for group readings and multimedia. Performances: A bimonthly Newsletter with reviews, poetry, interviews, essays, and artwork. An annual literary magazine, The World, with poetry, short stories, essays and more.
