| Description: | CONTACT: PAUL CATAFAGO, FOUNDER, DIRECTOR ORGANIZATION PROFILE: MOVEMENT ONE: CREATIVE COALITION is an arts and education non-profit organization registered in New York. After the tragic events begun on September 11, 2001, several New York-based writers and artists decided to create Movement One as an organization that would bridge the gaps between the different cultural communities in New York. MOVEMENT ONE: CREATIVE COALITION creates and supports arts and educational programs that promote inter-cultural work. As well, the coalition works with artists and writers who have been marginalized and seeks to create cultural and educational programs for marginalized communities. MOVEMENT ONE believes that through artistic exchange, bridges can be built between disparate cultural communities. We see New York's diversity as a test case for different peoples to not only live together but also create beautifully together. In the last three years, Movement One has organized the annual Queens International Poetry Festival as a celebration of poetry, music and diversity. The Third Queens International Poetry Festival was held at LaGuardia Community College's Little Theatre on December 10, 2005 and attracted over 150 people. |
