Biography: (1903-1975) Sculptor, illustrator, storyteller. Louis Slobodkin was born in Albany, New York in 1903 and attended Albany High School before moving to New York City in 1918. Mr Slobodkin was an author and illustrator of many children's books. For his work with James Thurber on "Many Moons," Slobodkin won the Caldecott Medal. He died in 1975. |
