(1943-2018) Novelist. Juris Jurjevics was born in Tukums, Latvia, and died in the Bronx, New York. He immigrated to New York with his family in 1950. His first wife was the novelist and short story writer, Laurie Colwin, who died in 1992. He, along with Laura Chapman Hruska and Alan Hruska, was a founder of Soho Press.
