Biography:
(1915-1968) Religious writer and poet. Thomas Merton received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1938 and his Master of Arts from Columbia University in 1939 and taught at Saint Bonaventure's College, Olean, New York. In 1941, he became a Trappist. He wrote numerous books on theology, criticism, and poetry. He lived in Queens, New York.
