Biography:
(1926-1995) Poet. James Merrill was born in New York City. He wrote numerous books of poetry, as well as two plays, two novels, and assorted non-fiction. Merrill won the Pulitzer Prize, the Bollingen Prize, two National Book Awards, and he was a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
