Biography: Writer, folklorist, novelist. Carmer was born in Cortland, grew up in Albion. He graduated from Hamilton College in New York State in 1914. Taught at the University of Rochester in 1916-17 and 1919-21,He taught English at Syracuse University. Wrote about the Hudson Valley and lived in Irvington-on-Hudson. Works: "The Screaming Ghost And Other Stories," "The Night Rider," and "Listen for a Lonesome Drum" (1936), which is about New York State folklore. He also wrote "The Hudson" (1939) and the novel "Genesee Fever" (1941). |
