Biography:
In 1997-98, Michael Czarnecki worked in 18 schools as a poet-in-residence, New York and Iowa. Workshops - In 1995-97, Czarnecki conducted various workshops for youth and adults at libraries, literary centers, art galleries and museums with such topics as: "Poetry From the Visual Arts," "Writing From the Heart Out," "Your Indigenous Voice," "Spontaneous Creativity," among others. Grants - New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program; The ARTS of the Southern Finger Lakes; Special Opportunity Stipend; Upper Catskills CA; Poets & Writers, Inc. Awards - 1994 Arts Partnership Award from The ARTS of the Southern Finger Lakes. 1997- BOOKS: Twenty Days On Route 20, FootHills Publishing. A halibun (prose and haiku) account of a solo journey across America taken in autumn of 1996. 64 pages, perfect-bound. 1995- Drinking Wine, Chanting Poems, FootHills Publishing. A hand-stitched chapbook collection of poems related to wine and the old Chinese and Japanese poets. 1990-Making Space For Others, FootHills Publishing (Out of print.)
