Biography: (1954-2006) Poet. The most recent of Robert Long's four collections is Blue, of which Mary Karr writes, "Robert Long is one of the neglected beauties of American poetry. Cross the hilarity of Cummings with the intelligence of Proust and ardor of Cavafy, and you've begun to outline his powers. Blue is one of this year's must-reads." His poems appeared regularly in The New Yorker, Poetry, Partisan Review, and dozens of other magazines and anthologies, and he published fiction and hundreds of art and book reviews as well. Long taught at several universities, including La Salle University, where he was writer in residence, and received numerous grants and awards. |
