| Biography: John Hoppenthaler's poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Ploughshares, The Southern Review, Chelsea, Poet Lore, Bloomsbury Review, 5 AM, New Letters, the WB Yeats Society Newsletter, the anthology September 11, 2001: American Writers Respond, ed. by William Heyen, and elsewhere. His first book of poetry, Lives Of Water, will be available from Carnegie Mellon University Press in July, 2002. His essays, interviews, and reviews regularly appear in such journals as Chelsea, Pleiades, Arts & Letters, Bellingham Review, and Kestrel, where he is Poetry Editor. He is currently editing an anthology on the poetry of Jean Valentine, for which he has signed an advance contract with Wesleyan University Press. He has taught creative writing at West Virginia University, Manhattanville College, West Virginia Wesleyan College, the West Virginia Writers' Workshop, and elsewhere. He lives in Nyack, NY, where he is currently employed as personal assistant to Toni Morrison. |
