Full Name: Amy Holman
Biography:
Amy Holman is the author of the poetry collections, Wrens Fly Through This Opened Window (Somondoco Press, 2010) and Wait For Me, I'm Gone (Dream Horse Press, 2005), which won the 2004 annual chapbook prize. Her guide to colonies, residencies, grants, fellowships and graduate writing programs, An Insider's Guide to Creative Writing Programs was published in 2003 with Prentice Hall Press. Poems and an essay have been nominated for Pushcart prizes, and poems have been selected for The Best American Poetry 1999 and the Best American Poetry Blog in 2009. She has essays in the anthologies, Knitting Through It: Inspiring Stories for Times of Trouble; The Subway Chronicles; Making the Perfect Pitch; The Practical Writer and The History of Panty Hose In America. Poems are in the forthcoming Token Entry: Poems About the NYC Subway; and in And We the Creatures; Mercy of Tides: Poems for a Beach House; and Rough Places Plain: Poems on Mountains. She had a column in Poets & Writers Magazine and Poets & Writers web site on publishing issues for creative writers, and she currently works freelance as a literary consultant and teacher assisting writers in identifying markets for their work and being savvy about the business. Poetry and prose have appeared in American Letters & Commentary, Archaeology, Barrelhouse, Barrow Street, Cortland Review, Failbetter, Gargoyle, The Manhattan Review, New Verse News, Night Train, The November 3rd Club, and Xconnect.
