Full Name: Diane Lockward
Biography:
Diane Lockward's first full-length book, Eve's Red Dress, was published by Wind Publications in 2003. Lockward is also the author of a chapbook, Against Perfection (Poets Forum Press, 1998). Her work appears in the anthologies, The Breath of Parted Lips, vol. 2 (CavanKerry Press, 2003), and Mischief, Caprice, and Other Poetic Strategies (Red Hen Press, 2003). She has published poems in a number of journals, including The Beloit Poetry Journal, Spoon River Poetry Review, Runes, Poetry International, and Poet Lore. She has received awards from North American Review, Louisiana Literature, the Newburyport Art Association, and the Akron Art Museum. Lockward's work has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes, featured three times on Poetry Daily, and read by Garrison Keillor on NPR's The Writer's Almanac. Lockward was one of ten featured poets at the 2001 Warren County Poetry Festival. A former high school English teacher, she now works as a poet-in-the-schools for both the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. Lockward is the recipient of a 2003 Poetry Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
