Event Description: Launching their eighth season of programming, the Pen Parentis Literary Salons welcome all book lovers for an evening of convivial conversation, readings and book signings by award-winning New York authors JOHN REED, THEODORE HAMM, and RENE STEINKE. Pen Parentis will also showcase their newest Fellowship winner—Sarah Gerkensmeyer of Fredonia, NY. After a night of readings and mingling over drinks, the four authors will participate in a brief panel discussion about how they balance successful literary careers with an active family life. The discussion will be moderated by Pen Parentis founder M. M. De Voe and curator Arlaina Tibensky. Everyone (21+) is welcome. Pen Parentis Literary Salons are made possible in part with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. They are also funded in part by The Fund for Creative Communities with public funds from The New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency. A wonderful way to spend the anniversary – celebrate arts renewal in a beautiful downtown location.
