Event Description: An Evening of Firsts for IAWA's Features Francesca Maxime and Frank Perero Francesca Maxime, a weekday anchor with Ebru TV; will publisher her first poetry collection, Rooted with NYQ Books in October. Frank Perero’s first collection of poems Drive through the Night, will be published in December; the title poem and others were recently published by Dublin-based Seven Tower Press in the anthology Census 3. As a reporter for WPIX TV, Maxime covered the rape allegation scandal of former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the Manhattan Earthquake, Tropical Storm Irene, and the death of Osama Bin Laden. As a poet, Maxime derives much of her work from her multi-cultural background: born to an Italian-American mother and a Haitian-Dominican father, and raised by her mother and grandparents outside Boston. Perero, a lover of the ballad form, has written songs for prominent Irish singers and musicians such as Damien Dempsey while his words have also appeared in literary journals, and Hyatt's corporate newsletters. A Queens native, he is the Campaign Director for former New York City Council Member Allan Jennings for Jennings' fall Congressional campaign in Queens.
