| Event Description: | The Brownstone Poets presents Bernard and Diane Block, a poetic couple, on Saturday, May 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Park Plaza Restaurant in historic Brooklyn Heights. Enjoy the varied menu at this affordable family-run diner while listening to great poetry. Poetry grows in Brooklyn Heights and there's an open mic as well. He has published four chapbooks: Quest; Prometheus Returns; Portraits; and To Music. Born and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, he attended Cornell University and Brooklyn College. Hitch-hiked out to California in 1965 and lived in the Haight-Ashbury through 1967. Gave poetry readings at the I and Thou Coffee Shop, City Lights Bookstore and Golden Gate Park. He returned to NYC and studied with the poet Colette Inez in the mid '70s. Read at Speakeasy, Emilie Glen’s, Henry St. Settlement and The New School. Recently he has read at Nightingale’s, Cornelia St. Café, The Bowery Poetry Club, Brownstone Poets, Green Pavilion, Phoenix, SOB’s, TOMI Jazz (a Japanese jazz club), Penny’s, StringPoet and Molloy College. He is presently organizing his many recent poems into thematic collections for future publications. Diane Block is a professional classical violinist who received her training at the Manhat |
